winemaker notes

NOSE: deep brambly richness, black currant, graphite, clove, kirsch, raspberry jam, smoke, dark caramel.

TASTE: This powerful, gorgeous hillside classic will mature for many years. The long, cool growing season in 2006 produced superb complexity and expression in all our estate wines. Our passion is to make each vintage a delicious and AUTHENTIC expression of the year’s particular terroir. And with this 06 it seemed everything lined up just right. It is without a doubt our best Cabernet to date. Captivating after several minutes in the glass or decanter. Will improve through 2015 and beyond.

TECHNIQUE: Hand sorted fruit, fruit destemmed and berries barely broken, 4-5 day cold soak, wild and inoculated fermentations, all small lot open top fermentors, hand punch downs and pumpovers three times daily, malolactic completed in barrel, minimal handling (3 rackings), bottled UNFINED and UNFILTERED.
