NOSE: Subtle, complex fragrance is what Trompettes is all about. This vintage however, the nose is notably amplified. Forward, perfumed aromatics of blueberry, coffee, and cocoa, amidst a rich floral background. Delightful.
TASTE: Plush blueberry / vanilla flavors, balanced tannins, good acidity and soft minerality carry through the very long finish. Trompettes' consistent terroir from year to year represents a uniquely balanced expression of Napa Valley Cabernet Franc from our cool, Carneros-facing vineyards. Delicious right now. Will improve through 2010+.
TECHNIQUE: Hand sorted fruit, fruit destemmed and berries barely broken, 5 day cold soak, wild and inoculated fermentations, all small lot open top fermentors, hand punch downs and pumpovers three times daily, malolactic completed in barrel, minimal handling (3 rackings), bottled UNFINED and UNFILTERED. |
